About

Since their release in 1979, the Technics SL1200 and SL1210 MK2 turntables have been pivotal in shaping club culture and the era of the Superstar DJ. These iconic decks became a technological force in dance, rave, and electronic music, allowing DJs to revolutionise the way music was mixed and experienced. Yet, outside of the industry, they remained largely unseen—unheralded technology that quietly defined an entire era.

Using graffiti to distort value and status, this retrospective brand installation re-contextualises the Technics turntables, positioning them at the intersection of industrial design and fine art.

Commissioned for a large, diverse, international gallery exhibit, and curated by Sheffield-based artist and gallery owner (Æ), Paul Morrison
